Frequently asked questions

Is my spreadsheet uploaded?

No. Parsing and Excel reading happen in this page using libraries bundled with the tool. The file never leaves your computer, which matters for payroll, customer and pricing data.

Which file types can it open?

CSV, TSV, pipe or semicolon delimited text, and Excel .xlsx, .xls and .xlsm workbooks. For a workbook with several sheets you choose which sheet to load.

How is the delimiter detected?

The first few thousand characters are scanned and the candidate separator that produces the most consistent column count wins. You can always override it manually.

What does the pivot do?

It groups rows by one column and summarises another with count, sum, average, minimum or maximum. It answers questions such as total sales per region without writing a formula.

How large a file can it handle?

Files up to roughly 50 MB or 200,000 rows work. The grid renders only the visible window, so scrolling stays smooth even when the whole dataset is in memory.

Is CSV & Excel Studio free?

Yes. CSV & Excel Studio is free for everyone and needs no sign-up to use. An account is only needed to export, download or print, because every export is recorded.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. It works in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox on phones, tablets and computers, with nothing to install.
